Society has millions of talented individuals who are not confident enough to face social encounters, and thereby lag behind.

A professional success at times depends upon your social success. Networking in the present era has boosted professional success in many cases.

Here are 5 tips on how to extend your social network and get socially accepted.

  • Smile your way to people’s heart. The importance of smile can’t be expressed in few jotted lines. Most of you undermine the significance of smile in your day to day lives. Smile is like a steroid which could boost our social performance. Smile can make your enemy less hostile. A high level diplomatic talk between warring countries starts with a broad smile. Smile attracts people like a bee to a beehive. There’s no end to what smile does. Make best use of your smile and you would see people more inclined towards you. They would befriend you. They would readily accept you.
  •  The function of smile helps you to provide initial impetus, and then comes your conduct towards people. Be attentive to what others say. The ability to listen makes you socially wanted. There are few listeners around, everybody seems to be in a hurry to break in and have something to say about. Good listeners are sought after individuals and if you can give ears to others, you may well be on your way to extend your social network.
  • Never brag about yourself. You may be a good listener, but when your chance to talk comes in, you leave no stone unturned and starts bragging with all your might. You talk less but you talk about your business success, your child’s successful report card, and other useless self praise talks. If you do that, remember people won’t like to see your face, again.
  •  Try and keep your talk short. Your social friends would never want to hear long stories from you, if they do not know those stories themselves. A good social conversation revolves around mutual understanding, with everybody getting equal chances to talk.
  • Your talks should never be self centered. Always have an open conversation. Best talks are the ones when you could guide your talk to any topic you wish. It’s like having many by lanes in a main street. Instead of guiding your talk to something related with you, you can keep your talk to a generalized pattern.

Never grumble about your personal problems in a social gathering. Think what all you did like to hear when someone talks, and say those things which people ultimately would like to hear from you.
