Frugal Friday Date Night

Have you been looking for an affordable idea for a “date night”. Most of us remember the romantic walks we took as a new couple, walking hand in hand and it did not matter where as long as you were together. Why not do it again, downtown Gainesville is chock full of history.  Choose and Friday evening, and drive to the downtown area about an hour or so before dark. Stroll Southward down SE 1st Street, where you will pass a quiet park with benches. There are many old houses that have been turned into bed and breakfasts with beautiful yards and Gardens. On the return walk, visit the downtown library location, where you can check out(borrow) a movie for no cost. However, if bed and breakfast gardens are not appealing, head South on SE 1st Street from downtown and take in the architecture the Hippodrome State Theatre and other buildings offer. Before leaving the downtown area of Gainesville, stop by and enjoy a free concert under the stars at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza, on Friday evenings from 8:00pm until 10:00pm. Remember you still have a movie to watch while relaxing on the couch. Did you notice that this romantic evening full of activity did not cost one single dime. Frugal does not have to mean sitting home being bored, at least not in our town.
