Happy Marriages are Made, Not Inherited!

Most human characteristics are genetically transferred from the parents to children. These include physical features inherited from one or both parents. Behaviors on the other hand seem to greatly influence the environment which a person was brought up and where he or she lives. In the same way, a happy marriage is made by the people concerned. It is never inherited from parents or others. The saying “As you make your bed so shall you lie on it” seems to apply here. A happy marriage is a product of hard-work, maturity, understanding and self-discipline.

It is not one-way-traffic affair once it takes two to hold the bond together. Marriage entails a great deal of endurance if better results are expected. A happy marriage therefore brings bliss not only to the couple but also to the children and even their neighbor whose peace will not be constantly disturbed.

Marriages suppose to be a life-long engagement “until deaths do the couple apart”. In short, marriage is not a thing that one should jump in and out. There are so many men and women in the world but it does not follow that any two people of opposite sex can become man and wife. This may explain why men go in search of ideal wives while women are on the look out for men that possess the qualities of their ideal man.

The period of courtship is a very important period in the lives of any two people who propose to marry each other. Courtship makes a provision for the study of the behaviors of each partner, among other things. But somehow, many people have misused this period. They think that it is a period where pretentious attitude should prevail. Some go to extent of providing to their partners that they are super humans.  They do  this  by  trying to show  that  they  can never  be annoyed  or hurt  by  anything the partner does. They put on false airs and some  men even run into debts to make  sure they  take  their fiancées  out  on a shopping  which they  would not  ordinarily afford. They will tell all sort of fabricated stories about their family background.  This attitude towards courtship may bring about a fracture in later days.
