Happy Marriages are Made, Not Inherited!
by Most human characteristics are genetically transferred from the parents to children. These include physical features inherited from one or both parents. Behaviors on the other hand seem to greatly influence the environment which a person was brought up and where he or she lives. In the same way, a happy marriage is made by the people concerned. It is never inherited from parents or others. The saying “As you make your bed so shall you lie on it” seems to apply here. A happy marriage is a product of hard-work, maturity, understanding and self-discipline.
One thing that pushes many marriages to the rocks is the nagging tendencies of the female partner. Some women take to nagging as away of showing their disapproval for their husband‘s action. They nag when their husbands are broke, when there is a little misunderstanding between them; they nag over rumors about the “other woman”. This is not the best way to find solutions to problems. Asking questions is one of the most fruitful ways of dealing with situations at home.
Method of approach is also important, try to remember that a man wants to protect his ego and where his ego stands between understanding and happiness, a soft approach rather than nagging may be the answer. Nagging can drive a man to many things. A horrid husband may take to drinking to forget home and problems. Nagging can push a man into bad company. He may form the habit of keeping late outside to save himself from his wife nagging.
Another important ingredient for a happy and successful marriage is cleanliness. No normal human being likes filth. Personal cleanliness as well as the neatness of the home and surrounding brings not only happiness but also ensure good health. You may simply be underestimating your possibilities by neglecting your personal appearance. You would be surprised what a neat appearance can do a man even if he is your husband many times over! The surroundings also matter and they should be given attention. A man who has a beautiful home will always be happy to go back to it. If he loves it, he will make sure the house in order.
One of the ways of getting to a man’s heart is through his mouth. The way you cook and present your dishes is therefore important. Delicious dishes presented with smiles can give real satisfaction. Vary your dishes as mush as the family purse can afford. Remember that variety is the spice of life. Bad company corrupts good individuals. A woman who wants to make her marriage happy should be selective in her choice of friends. Her friends should not be the type that will cause or deepen misunderstanding
