Health Benefits of Sex

Apart from the satisfaction and pleasure that sexual activity brings, it has health benefits, too. Here are just some:

Sex will make you sleep better.

Sex will make you catch up on sleep, say University of Tucson researchers.  The reason: It’s exercise; people who exercise once a week are 38% less likely to have trouble sleeping.  But make love several before bedtime—50% of those polled said it was hard to fall asleep right after sex.

Sex during pregnancy

As long as your pregnancy is normal, it’s safe to have sex up until you are in labor.  In addition to relieving tension, sex can induce labor, since semen contains prostaglandins, chemicals that trigger contractions late in pregnancy.  Sex is off-limits to women who’ve had pregnancy related problems; pre-term labor, bleeding, severe eclampsia or placenta previa.

Kiss your cavities away.

Kissing has been shown to improve dental health.  An American Academy Dentistry study revealed that kissing increases the amount of saliva in the mouth, helping to flush away plaque.  Additionally, experts say the extra saliva is the most beneficial at night, so remember to smooch it up just before bedtime.
