Hey, Are Those New? How to Tell If Your Wife is Shopping Without Your Knowledge
Women can be the sneakiest of sneaky when hiding a newly purchased item. Here are some investigative tips for spouses to locate these finds.
Ladies, I will start by apologizing because I am about to tell one of the best secrets yet about women and our shopping habits. Shoes, clothes, handbags, jewelry and many other items, are things we buy in excess and love every second of it. However much it may cost we will find a way to not only buy a pair but the three extra pair that fit so well, and happen to be on sale! We did not need ten bath towels but they may not be there next week so we had to buy them today. Unfortunately, the husbands are often in the dark and have no idea about this little habit that has developed. For those of you husbands who are curious, here are the best strategies that women come up with to hide there goodies. As a husband, you will need to become the best private investigator there is.
The first place to look is on the receipts. The receipt will not give any false information. The second place to look is on your credit card statement if you have a joint credit card. Looking for online shopping, phone orders and of course the basic run of the mill department store in the area will be listed. You can call and ask for an itemized bill but one of the best ways to tell is estimating what was supposed to be spent and how much over this amount the actual total is. If the amount is quite a bit over your estimation then there is a possibility of extra goodies lurking around.
Speaking of this, take a good look around your house starting with your wife’s closet and work your way to the closets you normally wouldn’t use. If you have a spare bedroom with a closet you may be very surprised with what you find in there besides jackets and shoes. If your house lacks closet space then check the attic. That’s right, the attic; the place where you have to go for stored things. Some women may not climb up there to get storage but will certainly hide a sassy pair of shoes up there if needed. By the way, this is one of my favorite spots. If you see a pair of shoes you haven’t noticed before then check to see if the bottoms are scuffed. If the shoe is not scuffed these could possibly be new pair or a pair that was bought months ago. These shoes will fall under the category of “I’ve had these for a while.” If your wife is wearing a pair of shoes that look new wait until she walks away and take a look at the bottom for scuffs. New shoes are like a hair cut; you can always tell when they’re new. Whatever you do, do not underestimate the power of the trunk. There have been more shoes, clothes, and home goods hidden in the trunk of my car than I can account for and happens to be a favorite of mine still.
Although these are a few investigative ways to find out if the items are new you could actually sit down and ask. Communication is the basis of any relationship so if you are wondering what your wife is up to just ask her; about the purchases that is. Regardless of what many women may think, not all men are foolish. For the most part, men don’t care about something as futile as a linen purchase, but if they are, this can be a useful tool to learn more about their wives.

Ah, yes, all so true. Your article can also be used in the context of how a guy’s favorite things (usually clothing with more holes than material) can so often, and mysteriously, disappear.

Nice article. I would say that you opened a can of worms but, i already found this little secret out about my wife years ago. I even wrote a poem about it”My Wife Has A New Hobby”. Everything you mentioned in this article is true. Well done.
