How to Deal with The Drama Which Comes with Ending a Relationship
Are you a drama queen? If so, then will be okay, if you’re not, then how will you deal with the drama of breaking up?
/> Accentuate the positive. This is an important point. Many times, persons who have had their hearts broken begin to lay the blame of what happened on them. They are usually hard on themselves, blaming it on their faults as if they are deserving of their unhappiness. When this is happening, you have to stop it in it’s tracks! Accentuate the positive side of you, remember your good qualities, and if you are unable to think of any, then get a good friend to remind you of them.
/> Be good to yourself. Broken hearts can be very stressful; this does not mean your body has to look broken as well. Make sure you get adequate sleep, eat foods that are healthy and get lots of exercise to lessen the stress or depression and also to boost your self esteem.
/> Cry; don’t be afraid to let it all out. Breakups are really hard to deal with, and enabling yourself to let out some of those emotions can be very beneficial. We are aware that this is also really hard for the guys, but you don’t have to be ashamed to cry periodically. You do not have to do it in front of anyone, or in public. Find a place wherein you can be alone, try crying on your pillow, or in your shower.
/> Do things you would normally enjoy. If it is going to see a movie or a concert, you can do something you would normally enjoy to distract you from those negative feelings, even if it’s temporarily.
/> Keep busy, find things to keep you occupied. It is most times difficult to keep busy or find things to keep you occupied when you are dealing with feelings of sadness and grief. But you have to know that this is really helpful. Times like these you can opt to decorate a room, a house or try out a new hobby. This in no way suggesting that you forget about what happened, as thinking things through is an important part of the process of healing.— It Is suggesting that you can shift your focus to other things as well.
/> Take all the time you need. Usually it requires time for pain and sadness to heal. Almost all persons are of the opinion that they will never have normal feelings again but the human mind is resilient, and the heartbreak most definitely heals with time. How long the healing process will take depends on the cause of your heartbreak, how you cope with your loss, and how resilient you are. Healing after a breakup can range from a few days to weeks, as well as months.
Some persons turn to drugs or alcohol, as they are of the opinion that there is nothing which can make them happy again. Others take out their anger on someone else or themselves. Some people, in trying to escape the reality of their situation or their pain, will resort to cutting themselves, drinking, or drugs. These people are of the mindset that in doing so, they are able to numb their pain. But the relief is only temporary, as they are not dealing with their pain, just merely masking it, which causes pent up feelings and makes the healing process longer.
A person may need extra support when there is deep, prolonged sadness. Speaking to a counselor or therapist can be very beneficial for those who don’t feel better after weeks have passed or those who harbor feelings of depression.
So it is ok for you to love yourself again after all you have been through.
