How to Have a Wonderful Marriage

I dare say that no sane person goes to the altar to be wedded without that inner desire to have a successful and wonderful marriage. The marriage ceremony is usually full of joy and anticipation of a great future together by both man and woman to be joined in holy matrimony. The groom and bride are full of smiles as they take their marriage vows to love each till death do them part.

However, the story takes a new turn as the marriage begins to experience the storms of life and many marriages crumble under the influence of these powerful storms and waves. In this article, I will show you exactly how to have a sweet marriage.

I must mention that many people rush to the altar without adequate preparation. A wise man once said, “To fail to prepare is to prepare to fail.” A successful marriage is born out of preparation both mentally, physically, emotionally and financially. Marriage is not meant for babes but for mature men and women. Only a mature man can take care of his family, only a mature man will not beat up his wife but will care for her.

To have a wonderful marriage, you need knowledge. So many marriages crumble due to the lack of knowledge and understanding. In fact, the bible says, “My people are destroyed by lack of knowledge.” You need to seek knowledge about marriage and what it entails. Marriage is all about responsibility, dedication and commitment. Marriage is a life time contract between a man and a woman registered in heaven by God. I recommend that you read good books by reputable and sound authors on marriage.

Again to have a successful marriage, you need to understand that marriage is all about love and sacrifice.  The man or woman who is not ready to love and sacrifice is not ready for marriage. You must be willing to live your life for your partner. You must also be willing to give your all to your partner. Your love for your spouse is displayed in how much you are willing to give to him or her. You cannot love without giving. 

A successful marriage is built on communication. Communication is the fuel of a successful marriage. No marriage can thrive in the absence of communication. Husbands and wives must learn to communicate with one another. Take away communication from a marriage and that marriage is heading for the rocks.

One very important point I must mention is forgiveness. You must understand that in marriage both parties will definitely offend one another. You are not perfect neither is your spouse. It is therefore important that you forgive each other when you have been hurt. Another component of a wonderful marriage is trust. You must trust each other. Trust keeps the marriage standing in hard times.
