Infidelity is Normal
Mean and Women are driven by sexual desires. I explain the choices and difficulties.
Infidelity is natural
So called civilised societies have been around for thousands of years across our wide and varied planet. People couple together for companionship and procreation of the species. In nature male and female of the species will mate at breeding times and depending on the species some stay together to rear the young of their coupling and some do not. It is rare in nature with few exceptions for a couple to be together for a long period of time.
Humans do tend to couple for long periods of time if not for most of their adult lives. Some scientists believe this is because of Mankind’s superior intellect. Mankind is not satisfied with just the sexual needs of a relationship. It is stated that men and women require shared goals and dreams to evolve together and to prosper as a couple. Another reason why human’s differ from other mammals in coupling is because of the unusually long period of time our offspring need protection and guidance.

If we turn the clock backwards in time, early human groups had a dominant or Alpha male in the group. This male would lead the group in battle and hunting duties. The Alpha male also had his pick of the females of the tribe. It was not uncommon for the male to have many partners and sire many children.
This is seen as the “Survival of the fittest” the dominant male could defeat other males in the group and took his choice of the women, therefore his stronger gene’s were spread amongst the group and the group became stronger, well that is one theory. Some societies to this very day allow their men to have several wives and father perhaps 20 or 30 children!
In Western societies it is much more common for couples to live alone and be monogamous, or is it? There is a school of thought that this monogamous style of relationships is not as nature intended? Some theorists even argue further that if we still had groups where the Alpha male sired most of the groups offspring it would lead to a healthier group as only the strongest genes would reproduce.

A very well-written article, but I don’t agree with cheating. Cheating is very wrong. Might as well just end it instead of causing damage.

Cheating tears at the fundamental threads of trust needed in a good relationship, however your article was well written.

I find you made some interesting points and it is true we are and can be attracted to others outside of a marriage but it is what you do with this attraction. I have been married for close to 29 years to my husband and while we have had some rocky patches we have been true to each other. We started as friends first and went the rough times came, ( I almost had an affair ), I went to my husband and told him I need to talk with my friend. We worked out our problems because deep down we did love each other and life was getting in our way. Most people don’t work on their marriage or they were married for the wrong reasons and some should not stay married. My parents stayed married for their children and they were never happy. You can see this article has touched my senses. Good job and well written.
