Is It Love or Lust?
by Is it love or lust… and does it really matter? Yes it does. It matters a lot and I will tell you why. If it is only lust it may be great for a while and it may even last a few years but then the fireworks die down and it becomes quite tame and you no longer go all goose pimply when you see your “beloved” or hear their voice.
Lust might be just a one night stand. But are one night stands worth it? If it is something that will last longer than just for the one off then it becomes an affair. Are you going to have lots of affairs or just one long term relationship? And are affairs worth it?
When you love someone you are concerned for them, you want to be fair to them and help them and enrich their life. Not just rip their clothes off and have sex with them even if it is unfair on them or somehow damages their life. That is lust. If you want someone who is happily married or is trying to make their relationship work you would not nag them or try to persuade them to cheat on their partner with you, you would want to be a good friend to them and help them to sort their life out in a way that is best for them rather than thinking of how you can benefit, especially when it can make their situation even worse than it already is. When you love someone you are their best friend, you do not look for weaknesses or problems that you can try to turn around to your advantage. A genuine friend would be upset to hear that the person they care about is thinking of divorcing their partner, not thinking goody goody I hope she is frustrated and I can enjoy this. Nor would they advise her to separate from her husband or divorce him because it would suit them, they would think of what is best for her.
Love is unselfish and it is about giving not enjoying the person regardless. It is about wanting to share your life with them, take care of them and be with them regardless of if they lose their looks, have no money or all sorts of big problems.
