It Started with a Kiss!
Why do humans kiss? What’s the latest fad in Japanese weddings? Why do Darren and Sue from South Yorkshire have a rather bizarre marriage? What happened when Sun Meng from China got caught out by his lover’s husband?

So, you’re out on that first date with the man or woman of your dreams. The evening ends and you come together for that first magical kiss but, following recent research carried out at Leeds University, that kiss could be a killer!
It may sound ridiculous but the results make quite good sense surprisingly! The researchers believe that kissing allows an element known as cytomegalovirus, which is particularly dangerous during pregnancy, to be passed from the man to the woman through saliva. This germ, if you kiss regularly, gives the woman time to build up an immunity before she has children. This immunity is best built up where the female is shorter than the male, so probably not so good if you’re a leggy supermodel!
Kissing the same person for around six months seems to build up the best protection for the female and as the ‘flames of lurve’ are slowly fanned and passion increases, this immunity is heightened and comes to its own mini climax which means the woman’s less likely to be struck down with this ‘bonking bug’! By the time the happy couple reach their ultimate climax and the woman becomes pregnant she should be relatively free from risk and so, in turn, the risk of miscarriage or the baby being born with defects is lessened. The moral of this story is, therefore, stand by your man … well for at least six months! … before you decide to become pregnant.
In true modern style, following the baby’s birth, Mom and Dad get engaged. The wedding’s all arranged – car, flowers, invitations, reception are not a problem but where should the marriage take place? Maybe something a little unusual like a swanky hotel or a more traditional church wedding? Well it seems the Japanese have decided that they want the best of both worlds!

The above church has been assembled on the 21st floor of the skyscraper Monterey Grasmere Hotel in the city of Osaka. The church actually covers two floors of the hotel as you can see from the photograph.
If you live in Herefordshire then you may well recognise it! It’s an almost perfect replica of the All Saints Church in the village of Brockhampton. Even the interior is based on the parish church, right down to the pews, imperfections in the stonework, stained glass windows and a bell tower (albeit slightly more stumpy than it’s Herefordshire counterpart!) which houses a bell, rung out on wedding days. Even the layout of the churchyard and the iron railings surrounding have been duplicated.
