Just a Question
A thought runs through my mind.

No this isn’t a Want Ad or a Online Dating application, it’s just a question based on some observations I have made. This isn’t written to upset any of the opposite gender nor to even upset my wife, it is to see if I’m the only one that sees life like this. Confused yet? Well stay with me on this one.
I guess I’m a people watcher, ( might be my prior training) watching them do their day to day activities like eating for instance. I’ve noticed that people, couples especially, don’t seem to talk much anymore when they go to restaurants , at least not with each other. Didn’t we, prior to going discuss , get excited and polished up to go to this eatery, even saved up for it I’m sure. Yet once there it seems it’s only down to the business of eating or talking on cell phones or staring off into space. I for one, find myself lately not having much to say either, it’s not the cell phone, it just seems that my mind is more on the bills, work and or just getting extremely irritated with the slow service.
I don’t see too many folks ( couples) walking hand in hand anymore either, not even the younger generation. Those I do see seem to be more interested in talking to the person who is not there with them. I’m just wondering if romance is dead or if we are moving into a newer type of fashion to show affection , like texting each other our true feelings or emailing a hug.
I brought some flowers home for the Little Woman the other day and put them in a vase on the kitchen table. In the old days I would have gotten a thank you hug later that day or a thank you note. Because she didn’t have her cell phone charged up the thank you was never sent and of course when I asked about the flowers later , well it was interpreted wrong, so much for the romance.
I guess it all can be summed up that we ( including me) need to get back in touch with ourselves and put those electronic device away for a moment or two and really see the other person sitting, standing or laying across from us. I’m going to go do that now, I’ll let you know how it went.
