Keep in Touch The Old Fashioned Way with Cork Bulletin Boards
It has been seen that using a lot of modern gadgetry and Internet tools has made a huge impact in the time spent communicating with people face to face.
It has been seen that using a lot of modern gadgetry and Internet tools has made a huge impact in the time spent communicating with people face to face. Different methods such as using our cellular phones, or by texting our friends and even posting in chat rooms has resulted in us missing those nice little notes scribbled by the kids in their cute looking handwriting saying,’ be back by 6, have gone to Marias, Love you’
All these human interactions are becoming extinct. Sometime back when I was a kid we used to be very adept to those cork bulletins found everywhere. We used to have one in our family containing various appointments with the doctor or dentist, or even recent school pictures, an always ignored reminder of cleaning the oven and other things like the grocery list etc.
Even though they are less comon now, cork bulletins are used in some households, classrooms and some communities for advertising things, small sales here and there, and upcoming events including those of the church and those including small audiences. Teachers can also use these cork bulletins for posting student awards like putting up gold star for those students who have done their work properly. A sense of community can be created by small shops by posting articles on the cork bulletin. It can also used in the corporate sales environment where boards can be used to catch the eye of customers so that they stop by for a visit.
Another useful place for these boards is in the supermarkets where they can be used to advertise sale of cords of wood or even tickets for a local concert. These will definitely catch the eye of more potential customers than doing so on modern gadgets.
The cork bulletin has a multiple role at home by using it as a message centre as well as for decoration. These boards can be customised with different wood trimmings and other attractive finishing based on your liking. You can personalise based on the color of your decor so that the bulletin board matches or in fact use different colors of the push pins and post- its as per individual tastes of different family members to notify them for new messages.
By keeping these in the kid’s room they can keep track of different homework and chores to be done at school and home respectively. You can make sure that the kids look at the boards more often by giving them the job of decorating it using stickers, small pieces of seashells, colourful ribbons or even magnets based on their tastes.
Though with time and modern gadgets cork bulletin boards are getting obsolete but still they can provide us with a more humane form of communication. I still have one kept in my kitchen which gives me a feeling of nostalgia as well as being practical for daily use.
