Keeping in Touch with Your Lover

Some little things to do to stay connected with your lover.

Long distance relationships can be difficult at times, but there are certain things that can be done to stay connected. Missing your loved one can be eased by these four things.

Writing a Love Letter

Handwritten letters are one of my favorite ways to stay in touch. When you write a letter, you are leaving a part of who you are through your written word and your handwriting. Unlike emails, which may be instantaneous, they tend to be a bit cold and sterile. With a handwritten letter, it shows your penmanship as well as your emotions and personality. You are creating a work of art with your writing. The paper is the canvas where your written words are used to create a masterpiece. Your soul is laid out on the paper for your loved one to absorb and cherish. Letters are meant to be treasured.

Sending a Sweet Email

Emails are a fast and convenient way to communicate with your beloved. No need for stamps and the long wait time associated with snail mail. It loses the intimacy of a handwritten letter, but it makes it simple. You can send attachments such as pictures, videos and links. You can also send short pieces of fiction for your lover to read and enjoy or send a funny joke for your beloved to chuckle at. Get creative!

Talking Sweet Nothings Over the Phone

Nothing beats hearing your lover’s voice over the phone, bridging the long distance. Whether its on a cell or over a land-line, hearing your lover say your name makes you feel less alone, making you feel closer than you are. Listening to the tone and inflection of your beloved’s voice makes it more private and personal. Plus the immediate and intimate feedback gives you a sense that you are together even though you are apart. You can even serenade your lover!

Sending a Poetic Text

Texting can be a fun way to keep in touch. You can send short and sweet messages. One of things you can do is play a game by texting a line of poetry you have made up, and then have your lover text the next line trying to make it rhyme with yours. Or you could send each other poems in the haiku or senryu format. You definitely don’t need to be an poetry expert. These are meant to keep the two of you connected and to have fun.
