Keeping Love Alive

by Benjamin Bright in Relationships, April 13, 2009

The following are proven ways for any relationship to set off some sparks…

Are you a hopeless romantic?  Do you wish that your spouse was?  The following are proven ways for any relationship to set off some sparks:

  • The next time that you are both in the kitchen grab one another and start dancing to your favorite song.
  • If you have an argument with your significant other, try this: stop, step away, and count to 12 in German.  It’s a fun language to count in and the number six sounds like a certain activity that you might be doing after you cool down.
  • If one of you is really messy and the other is a neat freak, then switch roles for a day and see what happens.  Nothing helps to understand the other person better than a day in their shoes.
  • Find a way to spend time together even if it’s inconvenient or costs more money.  For example, rather than meeting at your child’s event, find a way to ride together even if it involves some backtracking for one or both of you.
  • Write a poem and read it after dinner then look deeply into your partner’s eyes and affirm them with two or three positive things about them.
  • Place a sticky note in a purse or billfold that tells of your love and appreciation
  • Go out for a date
  • Grab a cup of coffee and put a puzzle together or play a board/card game together
  • Stay in your pajamas until noon and cuddle
  • Watch a classic movie
  • Take a walk, talk, hold hands and sneak a kiss

These ideas are sure to spark some new energy into your relationship.  Seeing that the list isn’t by any means exhaustive, feel free to comment on the ways that you keep romance fresh in your relationship.
