Lately

V1  Lately I wake up,

      Get out of bed at 5 am

      Just to come home and fall asleep

      I wake up to a call from him

      Just to spend 3 hours talking to a lie.

C   One more day,

      One more hour,

      One more thought, I’ll lose tonight

      One more fake, intrigued smile

Br1 I hate the kind of lie I’ve been living lately,

      I hate the kind of life I’ve been living lately,

V2  I’ve paced the floor,

     Up in arms;

     Out of mind and out of body.

      I’ve over analyzed this-

     There’s just too much to say!

      I need to break this cycle

      no matter what you say…

C   One more day,

      One more hour,

V3 You beg me to stay with you,

      But, you can’t even see.

      I don’t need company that bad;

      And, that’s all you are to me.

     To the mirror inside

      I can’t hide from me

      No matter how I try.
