Long Distance Love
Finding the strength to keep going. Even when you have no one to hold.

One of the hardest things about loving a deployed soldier, is that you do not get to call him or her to say good night or good morning. Waking up to a cold bedside, or going to sleep with no one to hold. It takes a lot more then just love to get through a 6 months to a year deployment. It takes communication when you can talk. Talking about everything that has happened since the last time, telling each other that you love one another every other sentence. It takes strength, to believe that you can do this without them being there. You have to learn things you did not know before; girls for example, changing a flat tire, fixing the unlevel shelf, or picking up a new project. You have to want to get through this, if you REALLY do love them.
Just like in any other relationship; it takes loyalty, honesty, love, selflessness if thats even a word. It is not an easy journey, it is hard!! Nothing is suppose to come easy, if it did it would not be worth it. If you get through it, you will gain a new sense of patience, appreciation, and understanding. For those who cannot stand to do things by themselves or have to depend on someone else, this is not for you.
For some Distance does make the heart grow fonder. I have caught myself smiling over past memories from when he was home. Who knew that something like that could make you blush, over 5,000 miles away and they still have the power to make that happen. For some having a strong connection with their loves brings even more; you know when they are happy, sad, hurt or missing you. As strange as it sounds, I have felt this!
When you have the chance, starting today… Begin cherishing the simple moments you get to spend with your loved ones. Live each day loving what you have.

It absolutely takes a special and strong person to be in a relationship with a soldier. You deserve a lot of credit and support….you both do! God Bless!
