Lucky in Love: Building a Better Relationship
Tips for creating and maintaining a fantastic relationship.
There is nothing that makes us happier than a happy, healthy, fulfilling relationship. Most people say that love is more important to them than money or power, so why do so many of us struggle to find (and keep) our perfect partner? Sometimes the stresses of work, children, extended family, or different interests send our relationships into a continuous downward spiral.
Excellent Tips to Create and Maintain a Great Relationship
-
Consider Your Goals
The facts suggest that the personality traits are pretty much constant throughout the lifespan. If when you met your partner they said that they were not ready to commit to a long-term relationship, or did not want children at any point in the future, the chances are that they probably meant it. Thinking that when they realized what a fantastic person you are, or what a great parent you would make would change their mind is probably inaccurate. In reality, if your goals for the future are not the same, one of you is going to be sadly disappointed. Ensure that you are both clear about how you feel about future issues and save yourself some heartache.
-
Communicate, Communicate, Communicate
One of the main reasons relationships tend to breakdown is that channels of communication close. Make time to listen to your partners feelings and value what they say. If an issue is important to them, even if it seems small and insignificant to you, make sure that it is dealt with in a sensitive way. Ridiculing, belittling behavior is synonymous with bullying and will leave your partner feeling low and sad. Do your best to make positive, esteem-boosting comments and your partner will tend to follow suit. The result will be an open, happy relationship.

Keep a Check on Your Spending
Another sore point in many failing relationships is money. Being under constant financial pressure can lead to stress, resentment, and arguments. Create short and long-term financial goals to get the things you want. All of us would ideally like to live in a huge house and drive brand new cars, but the majority of us do not earn enough money to accommodate this lifestyle. Live within your means, keep a good check on your money, and remind yourself of the differences between wants and needs on a regular basis. There is much more satisfaction to be gained in saving up and buying something, than buying it right now and fighting over the credit card bill.
