Lust and Love: The Same Thing

A discussion of the age-old argument.

I had been discussing with a few friends of mine recently whether they would want to have lust or love in their life.  The reaction that I had gotten from one was lust and from the other love, and when they finally asked me I had said that I would want both, the reason being that in actuality they are one in the same.

As people we do not automatically see someone and say to ourselves we love them, our most primal thought comes out and we think all we want to do is that little act they usually show after dark on cable. That is where lust comes in. we see somebody and something about him or her sparks our interest. A nice pair of legs, beautiful eyes, a great smile. Something that sparks that flame down below telling us its time to get things started. We try to develop that special feeling when we look at that one person and realize we can spend every lasting day with them and no one else hence love. The exact time that it happens is not and cannot honestly be calculated.

In a romantic world though we wish that the two things are not one in the same for the fact that we think lust is only going to involve sex, which in today’s world it most likely will but subconsciously it can be thought that every time we have sex with that one person we will learn more and more about them which will lead to more into the love section of this equation.

Why is it thought that we make lust such a dirty thing? Is it the emphasis we put on seduction? The forbidden workplace romance, The naughty next door neighbor who gives that wink, Or that one person who you keep bumping into but smile foolishly every time you see them.  It is honestly just something that makes each person feel a little better because of the rush we get when we are with that person. Were put into a euphoric high that makes us reach further then we would if we did not have this feeling. This is the starting point unto which love can eventually blossom from.

It’s common knowledge that the brain does control all our actions, yet we give credit to the heart. What I can guess the most probable reason being is what sounds more romantic the thing pumping your whole body with blood, giving you vitality and life. The object that is classified in color as red, the color of passion where all love has its roots.

The brain on the other hand is the one thing that people think of when it comes to clear cut rational thoughts and not a thing emotional because who can think romance when they see a grey blob that resembles an overturned bowl of spaghetti?

When you realize that you have come full circle and the lust turned to love, you will know that the love turns to lust on a daily basis. Seeing that person will reignite that sense you got when you first met them and you will never let that go.
