arriage is an institution from God and He still run it till today. It is erroneous to think God is not interested in who you choose to marry. He obviously is. The bible says acknowledge me in all your ways and I will direct yours steps. If there is a place where and when this is most relevant, it is in the choice of whom we have chosen to marry.
Three min decisions are critical in the life of every child of God after the most important decision of choosing Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior. These decisions without reaching out to God for the divine guidance. Focusing on choosing a life partner, the bible clearly demonstrates the interest God has in our choice. The most thorough story of God’s involvement in bringing together a relationship is found in Genesis 24 – the story of Isaac and Rebecca. Abraham sent a servant to pick out a wife for his, Isaac. Abraham said that God would send an angel to help his servant find a wife. The servant prayed and asked God to reveal the wife. He had chosen for Isaac. God led the servant to Rebecca. Rebecca’s parents let her marry Isaac because they believed God arranged the marriage. God may not necessarily choose for you, but he guides you in your selection. God cares about who you date and who you marry. God can orchestrate your relationships. At the same time, you have a choice in the matter.
I have seen people make a joke of this critical matter when they say that since God chose for Adam and Adam failed. God has stopped choosing for men. How erroneous!
The truth of the matter is that man is incapable of making a good judgment without the help of God. Let’s ask ourselves, a man that was nice and gentle could turn out a beast during marriage. Human beings change! God is however careful that his children do not fall in the hands of wolves in sheep’s clothing. How can you involve God in helping you find someone special? Follow in the footsteps of Abraham’s servant in his search for wife for Isaac. He first looked for one who was spiritual. Abraham did not look for Canaanite because Canaanites were famous for being great idolaters. Isaac wanted one who was believed in God. God has repeatedly asked his people to marry believers. He then prayed and asked god to bring him success in finding a wife. Have you prayed about this? Finally, he looked for someone with a servant heart. What characteristic do you look for in someone to date and marry? If you find a good spouse, he or she is a gift from God (proverbs 18:22; 19;14).
