Mind Games: A Game Both Men and Women Play

by sunshine926 in Relationships, November 13, 2009

Although Mind Games are a sign of emotional immaturity, both men and women play them. The issue is whether men and women should play mind games or not. Let’s ask our Triond readers what they think.

Mind games or head games, however, you want to call it have been around for quite sometime. For guys, it is what makes the thrill of the chase more exciting. Let’s talk about the phone game. How many women have met a guy that asks for their number but never call? Or how many guys have said that they will call but the days and even months go by and they never do? However, when they do decide to pick up the phone and call us, we are supposed to pick up their call regardless of whether we are busy or not.

One of the worst mind games that a guy can play is the phone game, however, women are guilty as well. Sometimes women will glance at the number displayed on their cell phone glass screen and simply ignore the call or let it go to voice mail. Even if it is a guy they are interested in, they will make him wait or come up with the excuse that they have been very busy lately. For both men and women, mind games can be a way for the couple to test their relationship, but it is a very immature way of doing it if you ask me.

Secondly, another type of mind game that guys love to play is to play dumb or ignore the question being asked especially when women interrogate them as to their past relationships and where they stand. Speaking from past experience, this can be one of the most frustrating things that any woman has to deal with. If there’s not enough communication in a relationship, then you can’t build trust. And if you don’t have trust, then that relationship is not going to work out in the long run. Third, both men and women make their partners wait around for them. For instance, a guy you are dating asks you what you are doing on the weekend. Based on your response, he will then hang up with you and call you later. You are already his stand-by. In case things don’t work out with his boys, he can always go out with you. This is the reason why women should never accept any last minute invitations.

Finally, the worst type of mind game is the one that many guys use in order to get a woman they want in bed. They will start promising you the world and feed your ego with compliments until they achieve their desired goal. However, once he gets what he wants, then you never hear from him again. The woman, on the other hand, starts chasing the guy around and calling or texting him only to find out that she doesn’t get a response. And this is the same guy who promised her the world a few weeks ago.

While mind games are common for both men and women, women usually like to play them in order to test a guy that they like and see whether he is a good potential down the road. If a guy fails one of her tests, he is eliminated. However, both men and women who engage in these types of games are emotionally immature.

What a childish attempt of trying to find out just how much that person cares.

I was always very happy to have a woman interested in me. I still am. If she played games I didn’t hang around long. I never felt confident enough to play games. I still don’t.

You are so right about this. Everyone had done this including me, but I must say, we do learn from it and it does get old as we grow older and wiser. Nice work :-)

I too am way past all those mind games. It all seems a waste of effort to me. I enjoyed the post though.
