To some people online dating is very real. What they type in that little box on your screen is everything they reveal from their hearts. Everything they feel, think, hope for, wish and dream about they reveal through their keyboard.

To some others, online dating is a fun time passer. To these people it is just a game, entertainment, a way to fill in dead space in a day. Click your mouse to find a hundred men or women waiting for their response. This can be a real ego booster to some. The player of the internet is someone who takes nothing of it seriously.

When a newbie enters the world of online dating there are some rules you should set. Here are some rules to go by.

1. When you sign on leave your feelings at the door
2. Do not take anything personal
3. Never assume you are the ONLY one the other person thinks is special.
4. Never sign on and instantly trust whoever messages you
5. Remember, what you ask for, you just might get it!
6. If exploring the web cam sites, keep your clothes on!
7. Do not give out your personal information
8. Communicate online for a good amount of time before giving any details about yourself.
9. Be somewhat evasive
10. If someone is wanting you to send them money, hit the block button and be gone!

The most important thing I would like to stress is the time one takes prior to meeting someone from online. Way too many people (especially our younger generation) find someone online and meet them the same day, next day or weekend. People…this is crazy! Way too dangerous.

I would also like to stress Rule 6-Keep your clothes on!

Newbies who are not versed with the online dating world are unaware of the creepers out there. The moment you turn your web cam on, it can be recorded by the person watching you. There are so many programs out there that can record video. This includes if you come across someone who tries to talk you into shedding some layers of clothes. Save that for the real world. The last thing you need is finding your video on some adult site!

Being a newbie to online dating you may be saying to yourself ‘’no way’’ to all I’m saying here. Yes way! It happens all the time and people are unaware the other person is or can be recording them.
