On Falling in Love

Have you ever wondered why it is called FALLING IN LOVE? We might have our own two cents about it. But whichever way we look at it, I’m sure you would all agree with me when I say that it is the most welcome accident we could all ever get into.

I guess it’s called falling in love because once you discover feelings of love for another person, you lose control of yourself. You realize that you can no longer restrain the reins of your heart no matter how hard you try.

Once the waves of emotion form, you’ll find yourself stuck in the middle of the sea with no support. You have no choice but to let yourself be swept away by the tide to wherever and whoever it might lead you to.

You’ve lost total control of yourself and have surrendered yourself completely sans inhibitions to another person. Someone you never chose, but rather, someone the powers that be chose for you. Once again, you didn’t have any control of the situation. You simply fell in love with the person you fell in love with!

That’s why it’s called falling in love. It leaves you no choices. You actually don’t get any choices about things like this in life. You’re rendered powerless. For love is a force so strong that even the most able-bodied man is brought to his knees because of it.

Falling in love. A force beyond our control. A welcome mishap. You willingly allow yourself to be dragged along, notwithstanding the scars, welts and bruises you get along the way.

That’s why it’s called falling in love.
