Some very romantic ideas to try!

Listen to a CD that you heard at the start:

My Sweetheart and I did this several months after that first night in July. We bundled up, cranked the heater and the harmony and went for a cruise.  It brought back a sense of déjà-vu and a flood of memories that was just enough to keep our hearts toasty.

Keep twenty pounds of lover’s favorite candy on hand:

On a Christmas trip to the thrift store I picked out a red box that was shaped as a present. It was covered in a silky material and topped off with a bow. I filled it high with his favourite sweets, the kinds he told me he loved as well as those I saw his eyes linger on in the store.

Compose a list: “101 Reasons why you’re the Greatest”

I did this somewhat sheepishly, hidden away in a notebook no one knew about. The list seemed to cultivate itself like a field of springtime dandelions pollinated by a playful wind.  At a later date I read some of them to him aloud as he smiled widely, and I blushed a truly enraptured shade of crimson.

Stun with a kiss before they can finish a sentence:

It fairly took my breath away like a wave sweeps the beach. My mouth vibrated still with unfinished, now deliciously insignificant words. Calming like putty I knew in this moment that with fusion like this, speaking is secondary.

Tell your soul mate something about you that no one else knows:

“Tell me something you’ve never told anyone before.” Although my heart-rate quickened, I remember having calm thoughts. I remember the way my mouth opened at the same time as a wall I wasn’t even fully aware I built crumbled inside me. I told him about a fear I had blocked out long ago, one I had run from and chosen never to feel. He responded just how I’d imagined I wanted him to. If pain is a chain, honesty has the key.

Appreciate the eyes of your special someone often:

Like glassy water over the great berrier reef. The bonified eighth wonder of the world; and the other seven too. This activity is an absolute joy, bringing with it an exhilarating closeness. Its fun to take a peek at different times; the expression changes often from soft, to sleepy, tender, tantalizing fierce and fiery

Send flowers to your partner’s workplace:

The office had clearly been decorated by men; but hummed with the stress of a woman. Someone was always clicking or catching-up or deciding, debating, timing or dating. Most mornings my coffee sat in the mug next to me not sweet enough and scarcely touched. It was a novelty item anyway, used to make me feel extra journalistic. That day was no exception. I typed, talked and telephoned steadily pasting on the smile I’d been taught could be detected over the wire. I didn’t even notice the arrival of lunchtime which was usually much anticipated. He was asking politely to see me, his arms tucked around a large bouquet of white carnations and another purple and white flower I couldn’t name, but was sure he could thanks to an upbringing by mother and grandmother. This surprise to demonstrate appreciation jolted me that day as if the cup still holding my 3-hour-old coffee was empty.

Enjoy a sunset on the roof and a thunderstorm pressed up against the window:

Nature is one of the most awe-striking phenomena on the planet. It has this nearly magical way of shrinking everything down and gently guiding it back into perspective. To share this experience with someone you care for will also shrink the spaces between your hearts, your minds and your bodies. Watching the sunset from a rooftop is exhilarating, and there is peace to be found in thunders crash and a heavenly fireworks show.
