Signs of a Toxic Relationship
Alerting people to the signals you get from a relationship that will end up being a liability.
“A good man is hard to find. Once you find him, do everything in your power to make him happy”
- Debra White Smith.
As true as this statement might be, that is the undoing of a lot people especially women in their quest to find happiness. A relationship with persons of the opposite sex is meant to add value to your life therefore if it is doing the opposite in your life; I think you should take a second look at such a relationship. As hard as it is to find a good man, so is finding a good woman not any easy task.
Therefore this s a wake up call to all the good women to get up and not abandon your life to the mercy of a man who does not have respect or value for you. If he does not have value or respect for you then he does not deserve you. As much as a man deserves happiness so does a woman deserves to be happy. In thinking of addressing this issue, my mind went back to a story.
It was a school and first time love for Becky who had just resumed to school as a fresher, what she would appreciate more than anything is someone who has been around to help get through with registration and all that goes with settling down in a new environment. Tunde, a part three student was standing by watching, like a mind reader walked up to her and one thing led to another the rest is history.
Meeting each other could be termed accidental or destiny that I leave to what you choose to believe. They were planning to be married when someone introduced them to me and we got talking. Becky was getting tired and already feeling burned –out even before the take off of the marriage which was not a good sign for a bride to be, her joy should rather know no bounds.
The sessions that followed showed that Becky had been in a toxic relationship all along trying to make it work at all cost – even if it cost her happiness, her self respect, self esteem but, it doesn’t have to cost all of that to be happy. These are red flags in a relationship. You can be in love, be happy and still keep your dignity as a woman or man.
