Teenage Abuse in Relationships
One in three teenage girls in Britain is sexually abused or pressured by their boyfriend to have sex, a quarter of the surveyed girls said to be physically assaulted by their boyfriend.
Researchers from the University of Bristol supported by the NSPCC and Big Lottery Fund conducted a survey on abusive teenage relationships in Great Britain in which more than 1,300 young people between 13 and 17 took part.
The survey concluded that one in three teenage girls in Britain is sexually abused or pressured by their boyfriend to have sex, a quarter of the surveyed girls said to be physically assaulted by their boyfriend. One in 16 said to have been raped. The NSPCC found that nearly nine out of 10 teenage girls have been in an intimate relationship.
Boys also revealed to be pressurised to have sex with their girlfriend. However this number is much lower than the girls. One in five boys disclosed to have experienced violence during their relationship.
These are shocking results from a survey conducted in Great Britain; nevertheless I gather there wouldn’t be much difference in other countries. Why is there such a rush to have sex? A 13 year old girl is only beginning to change her body and mental state. There are so many questions and confusions she has. Sex is only one of the things she is discovering. The same counts for boys. It is good to discover sex with each other, slowly and with the others consent. There are so many things you can do together without making your friend or girlfriend afraid of you. Sex is natural but it is not compulsory.
As for the boys, they do have needs, they can’t help it that their hormones are all over the shop. There is nothing going to happen to you if you help yourself.
There is no need to do the things your friends are claiming to do. A lot of those stories are blown out of proportion and are often told by people who have little or no experience with sex. Don’t get fooled by this peer pressure. You are your own person.

good article. Though I would have to differ with Buma’s comment on interest. Women just learn how to deal with these feelings and channel them differently than men.
If you had grown up in the era I did or before you would understand why.

Nice one Snapper : )). Very educational.
(off the record – I never have.) But I do know from experience that men can be rather offensive when they want their own way.
I suppose it’s quite difficult not to think about it when you are picturing a woman naked, and she’s standing beside a table…hhehehae…never mind.

It’s only natural for men to think about sex a lot more than woman, it sucks that a lot of them can’t control themselves and end up hurting others. Those are the “pigs” woman should refer to.

Timely piece whenever it’s presented. The survey is probably flawed but nonetheless your point is well taken. It comes down to parental guidance, I think. Girls can say no. If it’s truly rape, police should get involved.
