Texting in the Dating World

Texting has become an important and popular form of flirting. It has leveled the playing field and has given even the rookies a chance at landing the dime piece.

Texting has quickly become a popular way to communicate with friends, family, and those you are trying to court. This is because it is quick, no nonsense, and eliminates awkward face to face moments. The key to the ultimate text is to keep things short, simple, and spontaneous. The biggest blunder made by rookie text flirters is sending long texts that lead no where. If you’re looking to sustain a meaningful conversation the key is to leave questions open ended.

Just when you think you have become the ultimate texter, your world comes crashing down. You may have mastered the occasional friendly text, but when things become serious with your significant other texting becomes a whole new ball game. Suddenly you begin to question your texting ability and you are filled with paranoia while you sit and wait for you phone to vibrate. Sustaining texts becomes more difficult and you have to know how long to make the text, the appropriate tone, and whether a smiley face is appropriate. Perhaps the biggest problem with texting is the response time. If you wait to long to send your text the entire conversation is void.

Texting is not high level, so don’t treat it this way. Paying too much attention to response time and subliminal messages will only hinder your ability to put your mack down. Never feel obligated to respond to a text and never jump to conclusions about one either. If someone sends you a text in the middle of the night that says “Hey, what’s up” chances are it is a group text so don’t get too excited. Don’t over react to a text, in fact it is best to under react and make subtle jokes.

It is also important to use texting in combination with calling. Someone who never makes phone calls and never makes face to face conversation can come across as evasive and afraid of the opposite sex. Don’t be that guy.
