The Act of Kissing

Kiss is a physical expression of love which involves sense of touch, taste and smell.

A kiss can be an expression of  love, formal greeting, respect, passion or affection.  It is quite common to see bride and groom kissing each other after wedding ceremony and national leaders kissing in greeting.

Kiss is a physical  expression of love which involves sense of touch, taste and smell.  When two people fall in love, it is hard for them to hide the yearning to share a kiss.  The lovers suffer an excited trembling in the muscles and slightly become red in the face upon seeing their beloved.

Expression of  kissing differ from  culture  to culture.  In tribal culture,  ‘kissing’ means ‘smelling’ In the act of kissing, men were kissers and women were receivers in primitive days.  Now, there is no such bar.

Kissing is  a tactile  intimate contact, fully established in  highly civilized  societies but rare in lower-semi civilized societies.  The kiss of love is a burning prayer of hot desire, born on the lovers’ lips and ‘rises’,  a tender…trembling, rich in promise and an intoxicating feeling of energy and courage.

Romantic kissing demands privacy and isolation so that young lovers can lock their minds and enjoy the intimacy of kissing.   Mouth to mouth kissing is reserved for sexual foreplay.  When lips are pressed together for an extended period,  accompanied by an embrace, it is an expression of sexual desire.

Kiss as ritual:

The act of kissing the Holy Cross, the  temple floor or a religious book or icon has been a ritual throughout the history.

Physiology of kissing:

The complex act of kissing involves coordination of 34 facial muscles, 112 postural muscles and Orbicularis oris muscle to pucker the lips.  Lips, anyway, have many nerve endings that are sensitive to touch and bite.

Women tend to compare and curios to know,  ‘Am I the first woman? Is it the first kiss?’

Women are not interested with the quality of the kiss but eager to know whether it is a first kiss or not.  Each kiss is fresh and virgin.  It is a unit.  It has no relationship with  the past  or of the future.

So, happy kissing!
