The Cheapskates Guide to Romance

Some great ideas for romancing that special woman when you don’t have any money.

You’ve just met the girl of your dreams and you want to ask her out on a date. There is one small problem though, you simply don’t have the money to spare to wine and dine her in a way that you think will impress her. Should you put off asking her out until you are in a better financial situation? Absolutely not! With a little imagination and a creativity you can, for very little money, create the perfect romantic date for that special someone.

Here are a few simple suggestions that will make her heart swoon, without you having to give her the moon.

Make an ordinary place extraordinary. Maybe the only place you can afford to take this lady out to dinner is McDonald’s. That is fine, providing you are willing to make the event memorable. Why not arrange with the staff ahead of time to help you change what could be a dull meal into one with real romance. Pick a time when they will not be too crowded so that you can reserve a table for an hour or so before you actually arrive for dinner. Bring in a freshly starched white table cloth, some good china and Chrystal, and some fresh hand picked flowers. Don’t forget the candles!

Set everything up and place a handwritten reserved sign on the table. Now go pick up your date. Watch the expression on her face when you escort her into this fast food place and to your romantically set table. Order your meal and transfer it to the elegant dinner ware. Then sit back and enjoy some good conversation and some laughter amid her amazed and adoring glances.

No amount of money will replace the feeling she gets from knowing you put so much effort and time into turning what could be a dull meal into a beautiful evening.

Picnic with a punch. Nothing is more romantic than taking a girl on a picnic, especially one that is well thought out and has a bit of class to it. Instead of the standard sandwiches or fried chicken, why not pack a loaf of French bread, some cheese, some fruit, a bottle of wine with two nice wine glasses and some small chocolate candies for dessert. Pick a nice quiet and picturesque place and bring along a potable CD player, and a couple of Cd’s with slow dance music on them. You have just set the mood for some quiet conversation and perhaps a dance or two after you eat.

Walk on the Wild side. Okay maybe this suggestion isn’t all that wild, but a trip to a petting zoo usually isn’t too expensive and most women love baby animals, especially if the petting zoo allows you to feed the baby goats and sheep from a bottle. There is just something about the whole experience that tugs at our heart strings. And there is something romantic about a man who can still laugh and be cheerful when he is wading in animal muck.

Watch a Sunset. Although walking along a beach seems a little too trite, I don’t know any woman who would not enjoy watching a sunset from a rowboat, especially if the gentleman she is with is manning the oars. Being in a boat on a quiet little lake and watching the sun set, will remind her of her favorite romance novel come to life.

Impressing a woman on a date isn’t about how much money you have to spend. It is about making her feel special. Taking the time to come up with a really great idea, and carrying through with it may take a bit of imagination and courage but it will be worth it in the end. You will both have a wonderful time, and isn’t that what dating is really all about.

also it helps if you date a girl who isnt greedy. I am a cheap date, I am happy with walks in the park. But a trip to Tim Hortons wouldnt be far off the mark either. (Its a Canadian donut place.. I love donuts)
