The Most Important Relationship

In order to have great relationship with others, we must have one with ourselves.

It seems that lots of people are focusing on having a relationship and in some cases leading to marriage. There is video dating and online dating which is very hot these days. Of course there are people still being hooked up by a friend or family member. All of this is wonderful, yet what about the relationship with the person you view in the mirror…YOU?

While dating, having fun, and eventually becoming a couple is wonderful, one must ask themselves are they truly ready for a relationship. Lots of people connect with someone so they won’t be alone; others do it because others are and the most popular reason is to seek happiness. Trouble is, these reasons are not healthy ones.  Each person must bring something to the table of relationships that will energize one another; not suck the life out of them.

I was tweeted an interesting quote the other day and I want to share it with you:

“Don’t rush into any kind of relationship. Work on yourself. Feel yourself, experience yourself and love yourself. Do this first and you will soon attract that special loving other.” ~Russ Von Hoelscher~

I found this quote quite refreshing because this is what my quest is; to truly love and take care of myself knowing that I’ll attract that ’special loving other.’  Oh it not always been that way but through trial and error, it has gotten better. I embrace each day with love and be true to myself.

When you take time with yourself and truly love the person you are, you no longer seek approval outside of yourself. Trust, confidence, and faith will play more of a larger role in your life than ever. People who belong into your life will grow with you; while others leave your life. As you attract a wonderful relationship, you will be a whole person instead of the half person described in some love songs. The relationship becomes stronger and each person brings out the best in one another. What a merger!

Before you decide to fill out that online dating form or ask to meet your friend’s boyfriend’s college friend,

‘do you’ first. It can be the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
