The Pros and Cons of Online Dating
The pros and cons of online dating are given.
Online dating is a fast growing cultural facility(?) in recent times. With the advent of broadband in almost every house and with the increased facilities and usage of world wide web, many new things were discovered and are being discovered. One of these discoveries is online dating.
Earlier people haven’t completely taken it seriously. Most people didn’t really like the idea of dating without seeing or meeting the other person in real. But after a few ’sucess stories’, it too became popular and many people are trying this thing extensively. There are special websites available for this type of dating. These websites proved to be great success. One just need to register on the sites and you can find a partner who has the qualities you need in your partner. At the same time, since your profile is made public, interested people contact you.
But like every thing else, online dating too has it’s own share of advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages
- Online dating is a good way of sharing thoughts and feelings of each other in a more convenient way. Generally people can not completely speak what they are thinking while speaking in person. While speaking about certain topics, you get natural inhibitions. But while speaking online(as many talk through typing), it doesn’t seem a problem to speak about the topics which you may feel that you can not speak otherwise.
- You don’t need to worry about the distance as you don’t need to travel through all the way. Even two people at opposite poles can date online.
- It may sound silly but you need not get prepared for the date. You may ask whether it is an advantage but think about the time you spent on selecting the dress and getting prepared for your last date.
Disadvantages
Online dating has it’s share of disadvantages.
- The most common problem you can face is fake identity. Changing names is acceptable but people exchange fake photos and this leads to problems. There is an incident in which a guy liked a girl by seeing her photo(both are Muslims) and decided to marry. Since the guy is in another country doing his higher education, they decided to get married on phone(weird it may sound but it is acceptable in Islam). When the guy came to meet her after his studies, he literally fainted.
- Many people sound so good and vulnerable while speaking online but they may not be as good in real. Since people cannot see each other’s face, it is easy to lie and this happens in online dating.
- There are many incidents in which (after making the person love them) people lie get money online from their partners.
Earlier the online dating was good but with passing time, new ideas are coming to people and about 90% datings online are based on lies and such cases don’t last long. Soon, people may lose complete faith in online dating.
