The Right Seat?

The Highs And Lows Of Living Loving And Working Together.

To work together or not work together that is the question? Let me explain myself. I am an aerial photographer and sometimes sensor operator. My husband is a pilot and together we trawl international horizons conducting surveys and photographic assignments for everyone from Microsoft Virtual Earth to Fema. When not in the bowels of the plane i sit right seat with my other half.

Like marriage, working together offers up both the bitter and the sweet. We have blissful working days full of Michelangelo clouds, uttered sweet nothings, the odd naughty comments pertaining to  possible membership of a certain aeronautical club and lots of wow look at that moments. Yes the earth truly is beautiful from above. But of course we have days when if he was sat on an ejector seat i would quite happily press the button. But then i would have to land the plane and that would not be pretty. Believe me telling your husband he is flying too fast receives exactly the same response as when he is driving and its not polite or politically correct. You see we are both delightfully stubborn to the point of immaturity and dreadfully opinionated. We are growing old disgracefully and at times definitely in need of a time out chair.

So do we get the job done? Damn it yes we do, for all our bickering, loving and those in between days we do a good job, professionally and weather permitting on time. You see the weather plays a huge roll in our job. Fair weather days in our relationship do not always mean fair weather conditions for the cameras and planes i can only equate to thoroughbred race horses, in a couple of words “high maintenance”.

So on a good day we behave, the camera behaves, the plane behaves and the horizon shines blue. On those days i wouldnt want to be anywhere else in world than in the RIGHT SEAT.
