The Secret Language of Love

A short description of romantic body language signals and how to avoid giving your feelings away.

The Secret Language of Love

Body language, or non verbal communication, has been around since humans first began. It consists of anything from facial expressions to body postures and eye movements.

Before we developed speech we used body language to communicate our state of mind, much like animals still do today.

For most of us, non verbal communication is an unconscious process and helps us to express our everyday feelings

There are times, however, when it might not pay for someone to know our your feelings.

Is your body language giving you away?

In romantic relationships we might not feel comfortable in sharing how we feel until we know how the other person might respond. Nobody likes the possibility of rejection!

So, how can you know if you are inadvertently giving away your real feelings before you are ready?

Here are some things to be aware of when cupid strikes.

•Eye contact – A classic indication of attraction in the case of women is lingering eye contact. Be careful to keep your gaze short and impersonal if you want to remain a mystery. Men, on the other hand,  look once and then look back again at their object of interest.

•Grooming – Women tend to ‘preen’ when they are attracted to someone. Try to avoid playing with your hair or smoothing your brows, etc. It’s a dead giveaway.

•Leaning – Don’t lean in towards a person unless you want them to know you are interested. This can include anything from a mere head tilt to a full body lean.

•Displaying your assets – When we want someone to find us attractive we tend to draw attention to those parts of our body they might find most appealing. For women this can include pushing the chest out to enhance breasts or displaying legs to best advantage. Men usually try to emphasise muscular arms, or even their crotch!

Now that you know the basics you can not only look for these giveaways in other people, but you can also control your own responses until you are ready to commit.

Good Luck!
