Things Guys Do That Make Women Leave

Getting a woman to be really honest about why a relationship didn’t work out can be like banging your head against a brick wall, and just as painful.

Single guy Jon, 29, is starting to think of himself as a walking sexual failure, although he hasn’t a clue why things keep going so very wrong. He’s had nine relationships and a whole bunch of one night stands. But despite all this experience, he’s still no nearer to finding the love of his life. We tracked down five of his ex’s and asked them why exactly they think Jon is still single.

Most people who have been single for a while have come across the question ”why is someone like you still single?”. The assumption being presumably that there must be something wrong if they haven’t been snapped up yet.

A significant majority are ‘’still single” because they choose to be so, but that doesn’t account for the rest. The ones who are alone for a very good reason. We’re talking people with good jobs, money and active social lives; not your obvious losers. So why do dating disasters keep happening to them?

Sometimes Jon does the dumping, but most of the time he’s the dumpee. It’s getting to be a bit of a joke amongst his friends, most of whom are in long term relationships. Jon is determined not to settle for second best however and though he envies their situations, he has very particular requirements; his partner must be fun, independent, great looking, extrovert and intelligent…just like him.

Girlfriend 1, Tana, 25. ”We only dated for a few months but it felt like forever. Jon was always looking at other women when we went out, like he was searching for someone skinnier and prettier. I felt so inadequate when were dating. Now I’m with someone who makes me feel like I’m the only woman in the world.”

Girlfriend 2, Anya, 30. ”Jon has everything going for him looks wise, but he has a terrible attitude. He loved computer games more than me. In the nine months we dated he though it was so funny to make sarcastic remarks to me while complimenting other women, and he was always saying how he would never settle down.”

Girlfriend 3, Demi, 27. ”Jon is a total party boy and has no intention of making the effort needed for a relationship. We had loads in common but it would take someone really special to tame him.”

Girlfriend 4, Sophie, 23. ”He was great fun but would disappear for long periods then turn up on my doorstep, out of the blue, all smiles. We were similar in many ways but he was too unreliable, and never stopped looking at other girls.”

Girlfriend 5, Diane, 32. ”Jon is a charmer, but he can’t help acting like he’s in a sweetshop, and has no intention of staying with one woman. He’s unreliable, vain and the phrase, “the grass is always greener”, was made for him.”
