Think Twice Before Breaking Up

Something happened. You don’t know why it happened, when it happened and how it happened. But it did.

I’ll tell you my friend’s story.

She has been in a long term relationship with a guy who had alcohol issues. Nothing serious – yet! But she was worried that the situation is getting out of hand. She warned him, she coaxed him, she spoke to him, she supported him. They split apart and got back together several times, and eventually she moved back to her parents. It was not easy. But she was open with herself when she confessed that keeping on would be a torture and waste for them both. She valued her time. The young man did nothing besides promising that he was going to change. In fact, nothing really happened. Today, they’re still seeing each other once in a while, but each one is free to build his own life independently.

Think about your life at this very moment. Be open and frank, it’s real-time show! Your life.  How did it get to where it is? Looking for the “villain” is a dead-end solution. Analyzing, thinking and concluding  is the only real way to get yourself out with minimal losses.

Before breaking up, before having a “talk” with your partner, before making accusations or making any other  sharp turns, think what you could have done to save the love nest. It starts with you. It always does.
