Why does it seem that the guys we meet are always too much of this or not enough of that? Handsome but not quite what we’re used to on the education level or handsome and very qualified but an insensitive jerk! Or perhaps the worst combination of all……handsome, educated and respectful but the attraction or “za-za-zu” just isn’t quite there?! I’m in my early 30’s but about to turn another year older, and I can hear the comments already, of course, depending on the source. The first source will give the good’ole “Oh, you’re still young and have plenty of time—I know several women that found their now-husband when they were in their mid-late thirties. They got married and they’ve had a kid or two since.” My thoughts are mixed on this one because while it seems to come from a good place in the heart it still conveys sentiments of pity and encouragement to ‘not give up hope.’ The second source may respond without saying a word but cocks her head to the side and, while grimacing, gives the nod of empathy that pretty much all but confirms that “Yup, you’re eggs are drying up and, well, good luck with it all.” Ah, dating—quite the beast indeed. And what happened to the long lost days of being able to meet a nice guy practically anywhere without any online assistance and start dating without all the games and drama?? Don’t get me started as I do recognize that this particular issue warrants another article of its very own. And I know so many of us find and marry the man of our dreams, but what about the rest of us……Will we ever get our turn?
