Topics to Avoid on a First Date
Regardless of whether the relationship progresses or not, the first date should be a memorable meeting and it should be free of hiccups.
First date should always be an experience you can cherish at a later time and it should be more like an enjoyable experience. No matter whether the relationship progresses or not, the first date should be a memorable meeting and it should take every step to spend the time of the date without any hiccups.
It is better to speak comfortably on a first date. The topics should be some good ones so that the other person can speak about them freely. Give time to speak about some light topics and tell the other person a few jokes. This makes the environment a bit lighter and it wards off the unavoidable tension to an extent.
While on a first date, one shouldn’t initialize a topic which makes the other person feel uncomfortable. This makes him/her develop not so good opinion about you. Whatever you speak, be careful in speaking it out. Just think before speaking that whether you would be comfortable in speaking about it.
Don’t talk much about the past relations of the partner, if he/she have any. It is a big turn-off. If you are on a date, think of forming a relation in the future instead of digging the past relations of your partner. If he/she is free enough to tell about the past relations, don’t show much inclination towards the subject.
Another important thing not to talk about while you are on a first date is sex. Yes, sex is a big no-no to talk about while you are on a first date. Some people think that boasting about their sex life makes others get attracted to them. But there are literally only few such people who don’t give much importance to the person. Besides this, many people don’t feel comfortable in speaking about sex with a stranger(you are a stranger on a first date). Try to avoid speaking about any topic related to sex.
Don’t speak much about his/her friends. This gives her/him an opinion that you are not so into her/him, whatever your intentions might be.
You can speak any safe topics like movies, music, or even your college life. But be sure that the other person is interested in listening to you. If the other person is not interested, you can easily make it out from the facial expressions. You should gently change the topic when you get a doubt that the other person is not interested in listening to you.
Some people have this habit of speaking continuously without giving the other person any chance to speak. This is not a correct thing to do, at least on a first date. However good you are, this makes the other person develop not so good impression about you.
