Two Quick Ways to Compliment Your Spouse

It can be hard sometimes to compliment your spouse, especially when you feel that you’ve run out of love, but here are two suggestions on how to make your loved one feel awesome.

Here are 2 suggestions on how to make your loved one feel complimented.  It will help strengthen your marriage, and well, who doesn’t want a good marriage?

  • As time goes by, physical traits change.  Don’t dwell in the 115lb fiancee you had, and embrace your 170lb wife.  Sure, it can be hard to recognize anything sexy after she gave birth to your children, has a pooch that makes you wonder if she’s pregnant again, and stretchmarks cover her skin.  Marvel instead in her beautiful eyes, that smile, her laughter, how she makes a funny face, or her sexy voice.  It doesn’t matter what it is, but if you scan her, you can find something that will turn you on.

Also, don’t dwell in your 200lb muscular fiance, and embrace your big teddy bear.  Tell him how you love his smile, how his arms hug you so tight, etc.  I think by now you get the point.

You don’t have to say “I love your pooch” (Kudos to you if you do love it, though.) or “I love your beer gut”.  Honesty is of the essence.  The trick is to find something you do love, and run with it, while ignoring those not so cute love handles.

  • It is also possible to compliment your spouse on what a hard-worker they are, how they are able to forget they are tired when the kids tug at them for attention, how loving and understanding they are when x happened.  Sure, maybe your spouse is not any of these, but I am sure he or she has a trait that you love.  It could be how they are able to relax easily, how smart, funny, interesting, or witty they are.  Or how certain things compliment you.  For example, my husband, ever the computer scientist, has an uncanny ability to finish what he starts, while me, on the other hand, ever the artist, tend to start projects even before I finish the first.  His ability to focus and finish projects inspires me to finish my projects and improves me, because otherwise I wouldn’t.
