Understanding Change
by One of the most important life lessons a person can learn is that change happens no matter what and that we must pay attention to those changes. Some changes are good and some are bad but every change is irreversible simply because we can not go back in time. While robo-ripping I realized this. The only saying “You can’t go home again” is the most true saying in the world. Once lost, something can never be regained. Any change that happens in our lives brings consequences and instead of trying to regain what you had previously, one must learn to adjust to the new circumstances.
For instance, if you feel that Barack Obama’s policies are bad for the nation, don’t protest and try to remove him from office but rather actively promote policies that you do support and talk to your friends about what you dislike about Obama and his plans for the nation. Try to get someone you do agree with elected in the future.
Or say your girlfriend or boyfriend breaks up with you. You miss them something terrible, right? You want them back? But once you get them back the relationship is different. You can’t go back to what it was like before and often times you’re just biding time until the relationship ends again, permanently. I’m not saying give up on a relationship at the first fight but if you know its over for real don’t just get back together because you miss the person you had been with. Start a new chapter in your life and deal with the change.
The death of a family member is one of the hardest changes to cope with but really, life ends and we all know it. Yes, miss the person you are mourning but get on with your own life because nobody would want you to miss out on all the joys of life simply because they are gone.
This advice is something that can work in any situation. Simply recognize the changes in your life and see how you can adjust to them and apply those adjustments. It will help you with your mental health in a way that little else will.
