Ways to Share Your Baby’s Milestones with Distant Kin

Learn how to share your baby’s milestones with your long-distance relatives and friends.

Are you someone who has a baby or is planning to have one? Newborns eventually start doing things such as crawling, walking and talking. Once yours starts doing these things, you will probably have the desire to tell others all about it.

You may even want to inform those who live far away about this. Although it can be costly to talk over the telephone long-distance, you can still accomplish your goal if you set your mind to it while being determined to get around the costs of long-distance calling. You will learn how to share your baby’s milestones with your relatives and friends who live a long distance from you.

Before you tell them, you might want to officially capture the moment. A good way to do this is to take pictures of the experience. For example, you can easily snap pictures of your toddler crawling or walking for the first time with a camera.

Do you have a video camcorder? If you do, that is great! You can use it to get extensive coverage of your baby  making its first crawl or walk or saying its first words. Once you capture this, you can send the footage on a tape to others you know or wait until your next time seeing them to show it.

Can you not wait to spread the news over the telephone? If you have to do this and you are paying for the call, you should keep your conversation brief.

Do you have your own cell phone? If so, you can use it to distribute your photos in a way you could not with a landline telephone. Assuming your cell has various features, you might be able to text your images along with a regular message.

There are other ways you can get the word out electronically. One involves sending a regular E-mail message.

Do you want to deliver your photos in a cheap manner without using E-mail? If so, you may send a postcard or mail off a letter that contains one of the photos.

Is it correct that you can only afford to talk long-distance sparingly? There are ways you can reduce this cost besides talking for just a few minutes. The first is to wait for your people to call you. The second is to make a collect call to them. The third is to use a long-distance telephone calling card.

There are options other than communicating by E-mail and telephone that exist. One is to post your pictures on your blog or a page that you have with a social media web site such as facebook.com. Another is to put all of your baby pictures into a photo album and show it to your distant relatives and friends the next time you see them.

Take these measures to share your baby’s milestones with long-distance buddies and family!
