What Do Men Really Want in a Relationship? Written by an Actual Man!
A guide to what men really want in a relationship, written by a man for a change so you get real insight!
I have decided to write a series of guides that actually provide an insight into the male psyche; every newspaper/magazine has these guides and they all written by women and normally are wrong.
When I am in a relationship the world loses its hard edge; everything that is wrong in my world has the volume turned down because I am in love. I’m happy with my girlfriend who I have been seeing for a year and I thought it would be interesting to make a list of the things I treasure in our relationship.
I like if we fight we both get emotional and tears are not uncommon, we worry because we are scared that other person will call time on our relationship. If my girlfriend didn’t show her feelings so easily I would question if she really loved me.
When it comes to long-term goals we are honest with each other – I actually treasure the honesty that she gives; women seem to think some subjects are taboo – in truth I want my partner to be my best friend (planning for the future e.g kids, marriage is nice) its an odd stereotype that guys hate this stuff.
We are two different people, our interests/points of view don’t always match but we can fane an interest or at least be open minded enough to give/attempted/watch what the other person wants. In this two way step-up I have frequently discovered I actually enjoy things I would not have given a chance for example: Doctor Who, Takeshi’s Castle, pasta and spooning to name a few! And vice versa my girlfriend is certainly unselfish open-minded person.
Basically my girlfriends tries to make me happy and fill the gaps in my world, all she expects in return is the same from me. There is no strange balance of power either– I am the man in the relationship but I would feel empty without my girl. Essentially neither of us is trying to rewrite the gender book of roles but we do give and take. I have read a few women’s articles and seen some very strange skewered guides – so i consider myself setting the book straight.
