What is Love

Love.

Millions of people say “I love you” everyday. Love is more that a four letter word, it has meaning. So, what is love then? Love can be defined as a strong liking for someone or something. Love is affectionate feelings for different people including husband, wife, and children. However, the love for each of these is completely different. Various types of love exist. Love is an intense feeling of affection, an emotion and even affects the way a person acts. Yet, without love what would life be like?

Love has many definitions, which varies from one person to another. One may never know what true love is until it has been experienced. Love is the most amazing, affectionate feeling that can be experienced.

There are different types of love that exist. Love is usually strong between a husband and a wife but the type of love is different than love for a child. Love can occur between two or more individuals. The love for a husband and wife is one that bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be experienced and not just felt. The depth of love can not be measured. The relationship between a father, a mother and a child is a different type of bond. The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all, same as the husband and wife. Love between parent and children forms the basis for any childhood. It is not limited to the likes of childhood but decides the emotional quotient of an individual. The quality of the relationship is affected by the parent’s marriage, age, and experience.

Love is how you make another person feel when you are in their presence. Love is the laughter that you share, the time you spend, and the relationship that you build with that special someone. Love is missing someone even when they are right next to you. Many people show or express their love for someone in many and different ways.

Love also has its negative effects. Love can hurt and can cause broken hearts. There is deception, blindness, and vulnerability. It takes effort to work at a relationship. Love can cause agreements. Love can be one-sided and miserable. The percentage rate of suicide due to love being rejected is extremely high. This is part of reality and it has been accepted by some of society, yet there are some people that still believe love is a fairy tale.

“Love is like magic And it always will be. For love still remains Life’s sweet mystery! Love works in ways that are wondrous and strange and there’s nothing in life that love cannot change! Love can transform the most commonplace into beauty and splendor and sweetness and grace. Love is unselfish, Understanding and kind, for it sees with its heart and not with its mind! Love is the answer that everyone seeks… Love is the language, which every heart speaks. Love can’t be bought, it is priceless and free, Love, like pure magic, is life’s sweet mystery!” – Helen Steiner Rice
