What People Think

When I was just an ordinary employee I heard most of my friends and friends of my friends they told me that marrying a foreigner husband is as lucky as winning in a lottery and a solution to all poverty that we Filipinos are suffering, which I believe that this way we are wrong on our concept. Unknowingly I am now about to marry an American husband. I also thought that marrying to this man can improve my family economic status, after three months of living together with my American boyfriend I find it hard to deal, why? Reasons are the following:

People think having an American husband to – be is a bed of roses but it’s not after all; coming from different cultural values is clear evidence that there could be indifferences. Communication misunderstanding too is a contributing factor, we Filipinos speak in general terms but Americans speak in details.

People think when your husband to – be is an American means lots of money a reason why relatives and friends flocking together to obtains borrowings and asking financial support. Yes, he is bringing enough funds but it doesn’t mean he has to disburse it to relatives and friends coz he has still tomorrow to care about. Frankly speaking Filipino borrow money to American is easy but for Americans to borrow money from Filipinos is really hard.

People think when your husband to be – is an American you end up stop working and the rest of the family, this is the time to call for more work, Americans are work oriented and gets discourage when family members are jobless and seeking for help in everything which relates to food and medical needs and this way to he will feel being advantage.

I hope this article would open the eyes of the people who think.
