Who Do You Love: Famous Couples
What does it take to leave a lasting impression? These couples, some real, some literary, and some not together anymore- have all left a legacy of love.
Many of these couples, even though broken up or in a classic fictional relationship are stuck with the trail from that one relationship. Why do we obsess and treasure these couples? I’m not sure, but here are a few of the all time most popular and most treasured relationships .
Romeo & Juliet are our classic and original star-crossed lovers. Their love was unbreakable, taught us all a moral, and ultimately led to their death. Heart-braking and tragic but still an all time favorite whether you like reading the classic script, enjoying the 1968 film version with the exquisite Olivia Hussey, or newest adaptation starring the devastatingly hot Leo DiCaprio and elegant Claire Danes.
Sonny & Cher has to be one of my favorite couples of all time (there’s a long story to accompany this but I won’t bore you). It all seemed so funny, interesting, and backwards. Cher was tall, he was short, she had a deep voice and he had a frog voice. Together they made great music such as the still popular I Got You Babe and The Beat Goes On. They held a comedy hour full of putting each other down, guest stars, skits, and music. Although, not together anymore-Sonny & Cher definitely left an impression for the decades.
John Lennon & Yoko Ono- okay so many do not favor this relationship but it was quite lasting and resulted in a popular catch phrase- Don’t be a Yoko referring to her hand in the Beatles’ break up. Although not a favorite, this couple showed great affection, admiration, and dedication to each other which I feel deserves note.
Bonnie & Clyde I am sure were not favored by the people they robbed. But they are our most famous outlaw couple.
Johnny Cash & June Carter not only compliment each other vocally but also maritally. Touring together for years led to one of country/folk music’s greatest couples.
“Baby” & Johnny Castle make our list for their also star crossed lover affair in Dirty Dancing. Beginning with angst against each other which ends up leading the country club dancer with the naive vacationer in this classic love movie. -It not only brought sexy back with the thrilling dance sequences but also shot Swayze into heartthrob stardom.
Adam & Eve-lets not forget the original lovers who started it all-literally.
Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt- are and always will be Hollywood’s sexiest couple. Not only are they hot but both lead extraordinary efforts into AIDS awareness and Hurricane Katrina assistance. I do believe that they also make the hottest parents and show that even movie stars can be great parents.
Barbie & Ken are every little girl’s model for relationships. Easy, breezy, and beautiful can describe this couples relationship although they did have a short break before reconciliation- Barbie and Ken are definitely America’s longest lasting famous couple.
David Bowie & Iman mix a little bit of rock and roll with a little bit of glam. Both stylish and hot have brought positive light to many regarding interracial marriage.
Fred & Wilma Flinstone were the model marriage of the prehistoric age.
Homer & Marge Simpson brings humor and sadly much reality about the marriage dynamic.
Jennifer Lopez & Marc Anthony make the hottest Latin couple. Each supporting the other with their music, films, parenting, and Latin pride.
Superman & Lois Lane had a very dynamic relationship. She loved Superman but not Clark, he loved her but at times would erase her mind, she would write stories about him and he would constantly save her.
Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee- okay so I want to put the positive impression couples on here but felt obligation since this couple started the star sex tape craze.
Mickey & Minnie Mouse- although almost identical, complimented each other in many ways and have come to be known as Disney’s favorite couple.
Lucille Ball & Desi Arnaz are still one of America’s best loved couples. This duo keeps families across the states laughing and set a standard for many couples throughout it’s original run.
Barack and Michelle Obama along with many new responsibilities and expectations, set a new dynamic for our first family.
They make us laugh, they make us cry, they make us envious and at times nauseating of their chemistry. However, they will always hold a special place in our hearts as to what we believe a relationship should or shouldn’t be. Who are your favorite famous couples and why?
