Why Men Cheat on Their Spouces

A lot of times, I have wondered why men cheat on their spouses. I am not saying that that there have not been cases of women cheating on men but I am spending my time writing on Men cheating on their partners because based on recorded  statistics,  we have more cases of men cheating on their spouses than cheating ladies. Why then is this trend so common? Why those this trend cut across every category of men both old and young?

I have  always boasted to some  of my  friends that engage in the habit of cheating on their partners that what  they were doing was wrong and had categorically beat my  chest on a couple of occasions and boasted to them that I can never do such a thing.  I decided to have a rethink as soon I discovered that I too had joined the bandwagon of my cheating friends. The trend has changed and the preacher is now the one that requires been preached to.

How did I have myself in this situation? It began a few months ago when a new employee got posted to the main office where I worked as an administrative officer. Naturally, I wouldn’t have avoided meeting her because I would have to be involved in preparing her papers, showing her around the office and introducing her to her colleagues. Days turn into weeks and I discovered that a friendly relationship had developed between me and the beautiful employee with a broad and charming smile.  It was supposed to be a harmless relationship, an ordinary friendship between employees but it did not turn out exactly as I planned. One thing led to another and one day I saw naked in her bed. She was naked too so your guess was as good as mine, we have done it. I mean I had eaten the forbidden fruit of my colleague.

  After the incidence, I cursed and cursed.  I vowed what happened would be the first and the last. I was wrong. Not only did it happen the second time, it happened the third time and it has been happening on a frequent basis since then.

Why then do I have to do that despite my supposed initial discipline and determination? Why do men like me cheat on their spouses? Well from my own personal experiences, men cheat on their partners for variety of reasons. Mine was caused by utter indiscipline and carelessness. I had totally thought it was a harmless friendship until it culminated into something that could hardly be controlled. There is an adage in my tribe that says “WHATEVER YOU DON’T WANT TO EAT THEN YOU ONT HAVE TO SMELL IT.”  If I had adhered strictly to that adage, what happened to me would not have happened.

In other instances, it has been proved that men cheat because of the trouble they face at home with their partners.  I have heard stories of some men who get so much scared when they think about returning home to meet their partners. Some women are so troublesome that they hardly allow their men to have a brief moment of peace. In other to have peace somewhere, a man can be exposed to having an extra affair outside the home.

Another reason discovered to be the bane of cheating men is the type of friend they keep. Some men have innocent tendencies but because they have close friendship with people that keep extra marital relationship, they can be easily be influenced by what they see everyday especially if that friend escapes been caught by his partner. An adage my tribe also says “ANY SHEEP THAT WALKS WITH A DOG FOR A LONG TIME WILL EVENTUALLY LEARN HOW TO EAT FEACES.”

Lack of contentment is another reason why some men cheat on their spouses. Apart from the issue of material gains from a rich outside woman, I have heard men comparing staying faithful to their partners to having the same diet everyday, day in day out. Eating the same every day becomes boring they argue.

Above all, the greatest reason why I think some men cheat on their partners is the lack of love they have. Some men think they love their partners very much but looking at it closely, it’s nothing more that infatuation because come to think of it, real love will never cheat.
