Atheism Religion Explained
The dictionary describes religion as something one believes in and follows devotedly.
The word religion in the dictionary does not only apply to God, Christianity, or any form of God. The word religion has a variety of meanings.
Quoted from dictionary
Something one believes in and follows devotedly, a point or matter of ethics or consciousness
To make a religion of fighting prejudice is the example they give you.
This brings me to the religion of Atheism. They make it a religion to fight theories on God, as the example clearly explains in the dictionary. Atheists do this with zeal, as the dictionary also explains. The religion of Atheism usually consists of the continuous talk of disproving God with zeal. They will post daily threads, blog about him constantly, and form groups of Atheists.
Quoted from dictionary
A cause, principal, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
I have come across some serious Atheism, really practicing their religion with such zeal and devotion.
The typical unbeliever of God does not do these activities with such zeal and force. The typical unbeliever usually does not speak of God much unless asked, or a conversation surfaces around them. They do not focus daily on disproving God with postings, jokes, and ritual observances of continued devotions of disproving God is not real.
Most Atheists will form groups, join forums, and sometimes come into Christian based or other religious groups to dismantle the theory of God. Does this remind you of Christians reaching out to teach the gospel? The unbelievers on the other hand, rarely do these actions. Most unbelievers are relatively quiet, which would be the category I would have been under before being woken to truth. I find some unbelievers just want a proof of a miracle of God. Where as the Atheist religion, does not believe a miracle can occur.
Two different types of unbelievers of God exist, the Atheist religion, and the unbelieving individual. I speak to many unbelieving individuals some of my neighbors are unbelievers. They are not discussing the bible being wrong every day, or the wars that were done without the permission of God.
I strongly suggest reading the dictionary, and familiarizing yourself with the actual meanings of the word religion. You will clearly see it defined in many ways. The dictionary can also help you to learn how to write an article that is factual then only based on what you think it is. This seems to occur with writers quite often, only believing a word has one or two meanings without accurate research or checking.

this is becoming a problem on triond, they are not reading the entire dictionary and pulling out certain words, the word loose means to be dicharged or released from ones position or job, that is how it is said,

you can make fighting prejudice your religion, as the dictionary says, so you can make fighting God and making it a point to dismantle him everyday your religion
people need to read the dictionary very badly on that site

and now a church has been formed too, a real church for athiests, I mean two separate type of people, I know many unbelievers who do not make it their religion to disprove God every chance they get

This may be how the word religion has been diluted over time. The definitions drafted by Noah Webster (one of the early English language lexicographers) clearly included belief in God or gods in religion. See, e.g.,
1. Religion, in its most comprehensive sense, includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, in man’s obligation to obey his commands, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man’s accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties. It therefore comprehends theology, as a system of doctrines or principles, as well as practical piety; for the practice of moral duties without a belief in a divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands, is not religion.
2. Religion, as distinct from theology, is godliness or real piety in practice, consisting in the performance of all known duties to God and our fellow men, in obedience to divine command, or from love to God and his law. James 1.
3. Religion, as distinct from virtue, or morality, consists in the performance of the duties we owe directly to God, from a principle of obedience to his will. Hence we often speak of religion and virtue, as different branches of one system, or the duties of the first and second tables of the law.
4. Any system of faith and worship. In this sense, religion comprehends the belief and worship of pagans and Mohammedans, as well as of christians; any religion consisting in the belief of a superior power or powers governing the world, and in the worship of such power or powers. Thus we speak of the religion of the Turks, of the Hindoos, of the Indians, &c. as well as of the christian religion. We speak of false religion, as well as of true religion.
5. The rites of religion; in the plural.
***********
I think believers should be very careful when trying to go about conflating belief and nonbelief, or religion and nonreligion.
That is a very dangerous game to start playing; one which will burn believers in the end more than nonbelievers.

Another possible origin is religiens “careful,” opposite of negligens. Meaning “particular system of faith” is recorded from c.1300.
I do not know when webster wrote his but system of faith is recorded from 1300, it does not say system of God or Gods,
However, popular etymology among the later ancients (and many modern writers) connects it with religare “to bind fast” (see rely), via notion of “place an obligation on
I find atheists feel very obligated to disprove God

now if you go back to system of faith, you can have faith in a person or belief, it does not require a God
faith
c.1250, “duty of fulfilling one’s trust,” from O.Fr. feid, from L. fides “trust, belief,” from root of fidere “to trust,” from PIE base *bhidh-/*bhoidh- (cf. Gk. pistis; see bid
they seem to trust the evolution theory and other explainations

I tend to believe the 1300 version of system of Faith, which as we know I can have Faith my articles will make money, that is not God?
when was webster written, before 1300?

now I found any system of Faith, not any system of Faith and worship, any system of Faith rooted back to 1300…
now I am old school and believe in the root of the word
one other writer on triond believes words evolve

popular etymology among the later ancients (and many modern writers) connects it with religare “to bind fast”
this came to me too, bind fast, it does not say what to bind to?
atheism binds to disprooving God, do you not see a difference in atheism and only disbeliefing in God
the atheist wakes up in the morning and places up jokes, links to discredit God,
do you not see the difference?

hope we can talk again patrick, I do not have many friends, and the ones I tend to make, someone usually tries to intervene with that possibility, the FBI is aware of those type of tactics, I mean the pulling people away from speaking to me, thank you so much for responding, and hope to talk to you again soon

The referenced dictionary doesn’t pay any hommage to the words root, “re-ligare”. Re, to do something again, like re-born, re-do. Ligare, same root as ligament, something that connects. Hence, religare means to re-connect. Connect us to something we’ve been connected with before, our divine origin.
Interestingly enough the word Yoga has a similar meaning, although I’ve forgotten how to break it down.
These references does not refute the fact that atheism indeed is a “religion”, as is communism (and many isms, in fact). Maybe “belief system” is a better word.
There is one additional point to be made here. All reconnection with the divine do not take the form if religion, in the context where religion represent a system of belief, worship practice, use of religious paraphernalia, dress, etc.
Some paths instead engage in “cultivation”, the art of refining the mind and the body in the Buddhist school tradition (which is different than the religion if Buddhism with its scrolls, temples, burning of papers and incense, and other practices). Original yogis also took the path of cultivation, although both traditions now mostly resemble non-spiritual gymnastics (modern yoga, tai-chi and qi gong).

I now noticed that some previous comments mentioned the word religare, although with a different meaning than the one I had learned. Sorry for the typos and the poor grammar.

the thing is it does not matter if someone else does not recognize that word as what it means, I found it it in the dictionary so I do not understand how you can say it does not regonize the meaning
most atheists will grasp at anything to not be in a religion but they are
the dictionary clearly says pondering divine matters, which pondering means to think about

http://www.myetymology.com/latin/religare.html
now this site specialize in etymology of the words, and that is not what they say religare means, it clearly says to bind or tie or fasten too
nothing about being born again, no site or reference I have found says born again
and born again does not mean born again to God
born again means a new start a new fresh feeling, born again into a different mind frame
someone can be born again into atheism, born again means a fresh person or a restart
someone can change their religion and be born again into being a buddist
it means second life or new beginning..
