Christianity vs. Religion

Clarifying a common misconseption.

Christianity is often regarded as the largest religion in the world.  While this would be true by population, christianity isn’t a religion.  This is probably confusing to most people so I’ll explain.

Religion is man’s way of trying to please God.  It’s about always doing what you think will please God and following rules, rituals and the sort.  Christianity is a relationship with Jesus through the Holy Spirit.

If you are a true, saved and humble christian you know you can’t please God.  Man is too imperfect.  Christianity is about working through Jesus to try and better yourself as one of His people.  Using the Holy Spirit as Jesus’s path to you this can be achieved.  What you need to do is talk to Him (pray), read His words (the bible), and use that to become a better servant of god through Jesus.  If you treat Christianity as a true religion and just do good and follow what you think will please God and ignore the relationship with Jesus then you are on the wrong path.  To be a true christian you need to listen for what Jesus tells you he wants you to do and then carry that out.  He has a purpose for you and you need to be listening to be able to understand it and fulfill your lifes purpose.
