My Views of Religion and Science
The philosophical discussion of the relationship between Religion and Science is not always discussed.
The subjects of religion and science are often seen as opposites fighting one another to see who is right and what is true. Some people can use science to enhance their faith or use religion to motivate their selves to be good scientists. Others can use religion and faith unintelligently to not accept science because they fear knowing to much will lower their faith. Both Religion and Science can be used for good or evil. When I use the term good, I mean to use either of the two topics as tools to enhance life like building a community where people care about each other and when I say evil I mean when science or religion is used in politics. Both are the two biggest institutions of this country and the world. Neither has made a bigger impact of good or bad. My own personal opinion on the relationship between Religion and Science is that they do intersect in some ways, but should not overlap in some areas where they can cause harm.
First let’s talk about my own views on religion. I was raised in a Catholic family, went to Sunday school, went mass most Sundays, and still believe that most of the teachings I learned are true. On the other hand I currently dislike going to Church and I have all my life. I hated going to school during the week and saw Sunday school as just another place for the adults to imprison me, but there specifically I was yelled at by nuns, listening to the priest was boring, and they made me drink this awful tasting liquid called wine or “the blood of the Lord”. In laymen’s terms, I was never fully immersed or accepting of Catholicism. I built up a rebellious attitude because I found more comfort out of just having fun, sleeping in and enjoying Sunday mornings, rather than listening to some guy tell me what a bad person I am for exactly one hour and ten minutes. I cannot and do not believe that not going to church makes me a bad person as some religious people might say because if god is Omni benevolent, then people should search for what they believe to be good and enjoy. People need to be good and respectful to one another and in my opinion that means finding your own way. Anything that lift’s one’s spirits could be an act of god, I do not know.

Very interesting and quite beautifully written. As long as we agree that God has nothing to do with religion, we will be on the same page. Thanks for sharing this as I found it very inspirational. Ciao
