Sharia Law Enforced in Libya
Sharia law enforced in Libya.
Islamic sharia law to be a direct way out taken by the National Transitional Council (NTC) after several deaths of former authoritarian leader of 42 years to master Libya, Muamar Qadafi. In a speech to the announcement of the independence of Libya, Chairman NTC, Mustafa Abdel Jalil, before thousands of people gathered in the Field of Kish, Benghazi, vowed to enforce Islamic sharia law.
“We as a Muslim country has established Islamic sharia law as a law enforcement source, therefore any laws contrary to Islamic principles are legally canceled,” said Jalil told the crowd, like Al-Jazeera reported on Sunday (23/10).
Meanwhile, according to a report in The Seattle Times, Jalil also declared a ban on the application of interest on housing loans for the Islamic banking system (Islamic sharia law) prohibits the application of the system of interest is considered usury.
Another Libyan official added that Jalil dream marriage law changes to facilitate the man took a second wife. “Many young women who lost their husbands in the fighting and want to find a husband,” says Minister for Development Affairs, Farage Sayeh, who resigned from the cabinet while at the declaration of independence on Sunday (23/10). Libyan law now determines a man who wants to have more wives than one should get permission from first wife before the judge.
A number of NTC leaders repeatedly emphasized the Libyan state form that will be more moderate Islamic style and get rid of the notion of a theocratic state as applied in Iran. However, some leaders of Western countries who support the insurgency have raised concerns about the possible emergence of fundamentalist rule in Libya.
