The Amish

The Amish have a very interesting society. The Amish society began in 1727. Jacob Amman led the Amish society then. The Amish first began because they wanted to follow their fore-fathers. They also had a strong belief in God. The Amish society also differs a lot from main-stream society.

One thing that’s different about the Amish is that they dress in an orderly fashion daily. Amish women and girls wear dresses made of solid colored fabrics with long sleeves, and a full skirt. The full skirt comes down to their ankles. On their heads they where a prayer covering. Amish women and girls wear a white prayer covering if they are married and they wear a black one if they are single. Amish men also dress the same every day. Amish men and boys wear dark-colored suits, strait cut coats (with lapels), broad full trousers, solid colored shirts, black shoes and socks, and black or straw hats.

Amish men and women do a lot of hard work every day. Amish men typically do all of the heavy farming and outdoor work. Amish women, on the other hand, do all of the house work and chores. Amish children, such as girls and boys, help their mother with all the chores and work around the house. As soon as the Amish boys are considered to be old enough, they help their father with the heavy outdoor work and farming.

The Amish lifestyle differs a lot from our society. The clothes they wear, the work they do, the majority of it is different from our society. I think that the Amish hold a society that is very modest and hard-working. In conclusion, the Amish way of life is very meticulous, and fascinating.
